MODULE 2 (GOAL SETTING)

- A goal is a desired result that a person plans.
- There are two terms of goal, which are long term-vision (a goal that we set at the end of the year for four or five years from now or even for a lifetime) and short-term motivation (a goal that we can set for an hour from now, end of the day or semester.)
WHAT IS GOAL SETTING?
- Goal setting is a process for thinking about your ideal future and for motivating yourself to turn this vision of the future into reality.
Yes, it is important to set a goal in our life.
- Setting the goal can guide the person to achieve their dream.
- Without the goal, you will be lost in the direction of where you want to go in life.
- By setting the goal, you are setting yourself to aim the target that you aim in your life.
CHARACTERISTICS OF GOALS
Specific
The goal must be as specific as possible. The goal that we set, must be clear and defined. For example, if our dream is to become a doctor, we must get specific in which field of doctor that we want to become. Such as, we want to become a dentist. It is important to determine the right goal because we need to set a goal that will show the way to achieve the dream. Each person has different goals and each of those goals can be achieved in different ways. The most important thing when we want to set the goal is we know where we want to lead ourselves into.
Measurable
We need to identify the quantifiable aspect of the goal. So that, we will be able to measure the progress and remain motivated. There are certain kinds of goals that we can't be able to measure the results. Such as the relationship or spiritual goals. But, we can record the activities that we are doing. So, it will take towards the goal. In other to make ourselves better and to improve our own capabilities we must know when and how to push ourselves above our limits. If we reached the goal that we set, we must celebrate it to satisfy ourselves.
Achievable
We must set the goal that we believe we can accomplish. If we set an unachievable goal, we will easily give up on to aim of the dream. Setting the goal that we cannot achieve can give us a negative effect rather than a positive one. Some people set goals to impress others. Many times people set unachievable goals so that later they can blame their failure on the goal that was impossible to start with. So, we must set the goal that we can achieve and not the unimpossible one. If we set a goal that has no chance of achieving, it can destroy our confidence. Once we achieve these goals that we had to really work towards, it will be worthwhile.
Realistic
When we are setting the goal it should be realistic to what it is we want to achieve in both personal life and career life. The goal that we set must be a goal that we can do within the desired time frame. We must set a goal that we truly believe that we can achieve in our life. By setting this goal that follows the rule, it will help us to focus on what we need to do to go ahead and achieve our goal.
Timely
We must have the deadline for the goal that we already set. When we are working on a deadline, our sense of urgency increases, and it will push us closer to aim our dream. Time is one of the prices that we have to pay to achieve the dream that we aim for.
Self-chosen
We must set our own goals. We cannot copy the goals of other people. It is not good to do so when we set goals. The goal that we set, will ease the path to achieve the dreams that we will be going through it in our life.

Time is gold. We as a human must appreciate time by doing something that can bring benefit to our life. To manage our time wisely, we must create a schedule. By doing so, it can help train us to be more disciplined people. If we want to become more successful we must give the full commitment to our schedule. In university, we must manage our time wisely, because there is no structured schedule like in school. So, students are courageous to build their own schedules. As a student, I need to know how to organize my time wisely for beneficial things such as studying. I need to manage my time wisely because time is important in life.

GPA is an abbreviation for "grade point average" which is typically calculated by adding all the numbered grades you have received and dividing them by the number of credits you have taken. In high school, it is simply a matter of tallying your grades and dividing that total by the number of classes. Every semester, students will receive their GPA based on the grades they earned in all their courses during the semester. This value shows the achievement of students in mastering learning. GPA is important to students because colleges, scholarships, committees, and employers will judge your application based on the criteria including the GPA.
